348 B.C.

Plato was a Greek philosopher in Ancient Greece. He was the founder of the Platonic Academy of Philosophy. The writing, “Apology,” was supposedly written to defend Socrates. The “Apology” shows some of Socrates' teaching to always do and stay good. He argues the fear of the lack of knowledge and the surplus of ignorance was no match for Socrates for Socrates could not fear the unknown, being death. Plato was a student of Socrates so a lot of Plato's writings included him as the main character, this created bias as Plato heavily believed in him.'

After Socrates died, Plato started a school, Platonic Academy, where many subjects were taught and learned by intellectuals seeking knowledge. This picture is it. It’s known as one of the first Universities in Europe. He made an emphasis on education.

Most of his writings included Socrates as a main character to get his teachings across. One of them, Crito written in 360 B.C., is a conversation between Socrates and a noble man named Crito. He tries to reason with Crito that following the rules and doing the correct thing is always the best course of action no matter what. Socrate’s philosophy was that if one was always good, no outside force could do harm.

Plato introduced the belief that the universe was made of five kinds of matter, such were earth, air, water, and cosmos. He described each with a shape, earth being the in shape of a cube.

"Good actions give strength to ourselves and inspire good actions in others." -Plato
