324 B.C.

Alexander the 3rd, also known as Alexander the Great, was a ruler of Ancient Macedonian and military leader. He was one of the most influential leaders in history, influencing Greek culture on many conquered lands.

(7) Located in Thessaloniki, Nea Paralia, standing 20 ft. tall, Alexander the 3rd is seen riding his horse Bucephalus.

“I observe, gentlemen, that when I would lead you on a new venture you no longer follow me with your old spirit. I have asked you to meet me that we may come to a decision together: are we, upon my advice, to go forward, or, upon yours, to turn back?“ -Alexander the Great

Great military Alexander talks to his army to convince them to keep going. He mentions his ancestor Hercules and the work and reward of the fight. Him being the leader and ruler of Ancient Macedonian, he has influence among others. Without this speech historic events could’ve gone differently and he might not have been the well known leader he’s known as today.

Alexander the Great spread Greek culture and language through Asia, Egypt, Mesopotamia, and India. Without him, Greek culture would not have been spread as far as it was. This spread of culture is called the Hellenistic Period.

As a young boy he was taught by influential philosopher Aristotle. Apparently he used to carry a copy of the Iliad, annoyed by Aristotle. Because of his teacher, Alexander never forced culture upon others but introduced it and adapted others.
