Pericles was a Greek statesman and general during the 5th century B.C. He was trusted due to the Delian League, getting through the First Peloponnesian War and the first two years of the Second Peloponnesian War.
Pericles was a prominent figure in Ancient Greece in the political world. He changed the entire government system for Ancient Greece. Written in 430 B.C., Pericles gave a speech about what the new Athens government was. The speech explains how the government was changing to more of a Democracy. Because of the change in Athens, it was an example to all of Greece.
"In short, I assert that the city of Athens, taken all together, is a model for all Greece, and that each Athenian, as far as I can see, is more self-reliant as an individual and behaves with exceptional versatility and grace in the more varied forms of activity." -PericlesHe led his city into both Peloponnesian Wars but died from the plague before the end of the second. Because of his death, Athens struggled without him and ultimately fell.
Pericles was a prominent figure in Ancient Greece in the political world, during his reign it was called the Age of Pericles. He changed the entire government system for Ancient Greece.

During the Age of Pericles, he promoted inspired the arts, education, culture, and democracy. Athen during his time was very lively and exciting. During the era reconstruction began including the temples of the Acropolis. Some of the most well known works of writing and art came from this time.
